The history of black land loss is nearly invisible, even to many African Americans who have recent ancestors who worked the land. Many of these photographs were taking in 2005 during a historic farm protest in Washington, DC.

Jerry Thruston's father and mother owned a farm and oil wells within a few miles of Harry Young's farm. the elder Thruston's farm hand was lynched (shot in the head) and FSA denied Thruston operating capital to build a chicken breeder operation.
